Grottammare is a seaside town designed for families: a shallow beach, a wide promenade, services pitched at people travelling with children. Precisely for that reason a hotel that keeps children out, entirely or at least out of the spa, is a useful exception here. In our catalogue we have verified one, as in Monteprandone, on the hills behind the coast.
The exception in Grottammare, in a town of families
A single address, checked by hand. The page specifies whether the rule concerns the whole property or only the wellness area: in a place where the beaches are equipped precisely for children, it is the right question to ask before booking, and no portal asks it for you.
The old village above, the promenade below
The town is divided in two. Above, the old village, with cobbled lanes, white houses, squares and hidden gardens looking onto the sea: it is the silent part. Below, the promenade among palms and tended gardens, with direct access to the beach, which in summer is the lively and noisy part. The cooking is Piceno, between fish brodetto and olive all'ascolana. June and September are the months when the balance between the two halves of the town is restored: the beach stays enjoyable, the upper village is deserted again in the evening and the summer festivals, which in August turn the centre into a stage, are over or not yet begun.
