B&B Palazzo Mestichelli - Ascoli Piceno

Palazzo Mestichelli is in via Borgo da Mare, at the foot of the old centre of Monteprandone, the hill town in the province of Ascoli Piceno that looks down on the Adriatic. It is the exact point where the Marche change face: behind are the walls of the old village and the countryside, in front the view opens onto the sea, and San Benedetto del Tronto is reached in a few minutes by car. Anyone looking for the beach without sleeping in the noise of the seafront finds the right compromise here.

The house

It is a restored noble residence furnished in Liberty style, kept more like a private home than a hotel. The rooms have names instead of numbers, Marina, Perla, Stella and Giada, and to these are added a suite and a romantic attic room under the roof. All have a private bathroom, air conditioning and a large balcony overlooking the sea. The Wi-Fi is free, so is the parking, and there are a luggage store and a space for bicycles.

The heart of the property is outside: a panoramic terrace where people sit in the evening and a large, well-tended garden where in the warm season breakfast stretches out. And breakfast is the strong point, served between half past seven and half past nine, with cakes made in the house by signora Lucia, who runs the palazzo in person and it shows.

There is no spa area and no swimming pool: the property does not pretend to be a resort. The stay is built on other things, the view, the garden, the breakfast and the location. The house welcomes guests from twelve years upwards, which keeps the common areas quiet without closing the door entirely on families with teenagers. From here Ascoli Piceno and the medieval towns of Offida and Acquaviva Picena can be reached in a day, as well as the beaches of Porto d'Ascoli.
