Description
The Alpiana is at Via Prevosto Wieser 30, in Foiana, the hillside hamlet of the municipality of Lana, in the surroundings of Merano. The property website writes the address as Foiana/Lana near Merano; Booking reports it in the German form, Probst Wieser Weg 30, 39011 Vollan, and places the house 12 kilometres from Maia Bassa railway station. Booking presents it as a four-star hotel and the same category appears on Hotels.com. The property declares 17,000 square metres of Mediterranean park and garden with pools, among orchards and chestnut groves, with a view of the village of Lana, and fifty-nine rooms and suites.
The stay itself has no age rule. The website's page for families writes that children of all ages are welcome at the Alpiana, and the German version repeats the same sentence. Booking, in its Child policies block, read twice, with a five-year-old in the search and with group_children=0, states in both readings that children of all ages are welcome, with a cot always available and free for the zero-to-two band, a free extra bed on request from the age of three upwards and no minimum age for check-in. In neither reading does an Adults only mark appear. For children the property lists the Kids House in natural wood, an outdoor playground with a trampoline, a small ranch with rabbits, the children's cinema indoors and outdoors, the bowls court and table tennis in the garden, the tennis court for free use and childcare from the age of three upwards, in July and August and in the Easter and Christmas periods.
Wellness, instead, is divided, and that is the reason the property belongs among the hotels with an adult spa. The website declares a spa area of 2,500 square metres on three floors, and in its spa guide it writes the rule on swimwear: "Skin and warmth only. The sauna areas are nudist zones. If necessary, use the sauna towels to cover yourself... Access to the nudist area is permitted only from the age of 16; the Alcielo Sky SPA is reserved exclusively for adults". The German page says the same thing: "Zutritt zum Nacktbereich erst ab 16 Jahren; Alcielo Sky SPA gilt adults only". For those travelling with children there is the exception, announced among the highlights as a novelty: "NEW: FAMILY FINNISH SAUNA (Textile Area)", that is, a sauna you enter in swimwear. The opening-times page calls it the Family sauna and describes it as a Finnish sauna at 85 degrees, "sauna with swimwear", open from 12 to 19.30; the page for families calls it the Family & Dress-On Sauna, with relaxation corners at garden level.
The reserved area is the Alcielo, which the website places on the top two floors, above the Pool Garden, with a panoramic three-hundred-and-sixty-degree view as far as the Dolomites. The pool and wellness opening times divide it in two: the Alcielo Rooftop Pool and Terrace, given as adults only from the age of 16, with the panoramic rooftop pool of 9 by 4.5 metres and the roof garden; and the Alcielo Sky Spa, likewise adults only from the age of 16, with the panoramic Finnish sauna at 90 degrees, the panoramic infrared sauna, the Black Diamond bio sauna with its glass dome at 50 degrees, the steam bath at 45 degrees, the Panorama Spa Lounge, the panoramic relaxation room, the cold water pool and the wellness garden. On Tuesdays the Alcielo stays open until 23 as a Night Spa, and the property also offers a private spa for two. The spa guide publishes no figure for the Alcielo and confines itself to saying that it is reserved exclusively for adults: the number is read on the opening-times and included-services pages, which for the Sky Spa and the rooftop pool write adults only from the age of 16.
Water is the rest of the house. The highlights announce a water area with seven pools; the included-services page sums the area up as five pools with 610 square metres of water surface and immediately below lists seven, counting the Alcielo rooftop pool and the Ice Pool too: the panoramic indoor pool at 31 degrees, 17 by 6 metres, joined by an opening to the outdoor infinity pool heated to 32 degrees; the natural Piccola Laguna pool with spring water, 320 square metres, heated by the sun; the children's pool, 80 centimetres deep, likewise natural and sun-heated, open in the summer months; the heart-shaped pool at 33 degrees, from May to September; the rooftop pool at 33 degrees and the cold water pool. Booking, in its highlighted services block, counts six pools of which five are open in both readings and notes the closure of pool number 4, the outdoor one, from 1 November to 8 December 2026.
Outside the spa, Booking lists free wifi, free private parking, free bicycles, the garden, the terrace, the bar, the restaurant with Italian and Mediterranean dishes, the indoor pool, the sauna, the fitness centre, the evening entertainment programme and room service, and describes a spa and wellness centre with massages and a steam bath, table tennis and tennis. The website adds the gym with TechnoGym equipment and the classes, among them yoga, pilates and aqua gym, the yoga platform on the fourth floor and the yoga area on the ground floor, the free transfer from Lana-Postal station, paid charging for electric vehicles and the garage reserved for certain room categories. Dogs are welcome in a limited number of rooms, with a surcharge, and are not allowed in the restaurant, in the spa area and in the garden; other pets, the property writes, are not allowed.

Frequently asked questions
Are children allowed at the Alpiana?
Yes. The property website writes that children of all ages are welcome at the Alpiana, and Booking confirms it in both readings: children of all ages, a free cot for the zero-to-two band, a free extra bed on request from the age of three upwards and no minimum age for check-in. The age rule concerns one part of the wellness area only.
From what age can you enter the reserved areas?
The spa guide writes that access to the nudist area is permitted only from the age of 16 and that the Alcielo Sky Spa is reserved exclusively for adults, without giving a figure. The figure is read on the pool and wellness opening-times page and on the included-services page, which give the Alcielo Sky Spa and the Alcielo Rooftop Pool with its terrace as adults only from the age of 16.
Do you enter the sauna in swimwear?
Not in the sauna areas: the property writes that they are nudist zones and that sauna towels, available on the shelves at the entrance, are used to cover yourself. The exception is the Finnish sauna for families, which is in the textile area, that is, with swimwear, and which the opening-times page gives at 85 degrees.
Is there a wellness area for families?
Yes. Among its highlights the property announces as a novelty a family Finnish sauna in the textile area, in surroundings suited to families; the opening-times page calls it the Family sauna, open from 12 to 19.30, and the page for families calls it the Family & Dress-On Sauna, with relaxation corners at garden level. In the Pool Garden, open to everyone, there are also the indoor pool joined to the infinity pool, the heart-shaped pool, the natural pool and the children's pool.
Are pets allowed?
Dogs yes, in a limited number of rooms and with a surcharge, and the property asks that it be mentioned when booking; they are not allowed in the restaurant, in the spa area and in the garden. Other pets, the property writes, are not allowed. Booking gives pets as allowed on request, with a possible surcharge.
