Limone sul Garda has a compact and very busy old centre: the difference, for anyone after quiet, is made by where you sleep. The village lies on the western shore of the lake, in the province of Brescia, squeezed between the water and the rock face behind.

The lemon houses and the museum that tells their story

Citrus growing here goes back to the fifteenth century and has left as its legacy the terraced lemon houses, still visible on the slope. The Lemon Museum reconstructs how the fruit was grown and processed: it is a short visit and it explains the landscape better than any postcard. Among the historic buildings are the church of San Giovanni Battista, from the thirteenth century, and the sanctuary of the Madonna del Castello, raised above the shore.

Climbing the paths above the shore

Behind the village start waymarked routes that climb among the hills and offer long views over the lake: they are done on foot or by mountain bike and are the simplest way to get away from the lakefront at peak hours. In the water, instead, the wind brings windsurfing and kitesurfing, as throughout the upper Garda.

In Limone sul Garda we have verified one property without children. On the page you find whether the ban applies throughout the property or only in the wellness area: on a lake where almost every hotel also works with families, it is the distinction that changes the holiday. In summer the village hosts festivals and concerts, so the evenings are not always silent.
