Hotel Clodia

The Hotel Clodia is at Porto Galeazzi, the green and secluded area that stretches between Colombare di Sirmione and the southern shore of Lake Garda, in via Giovanni Pascoli. The road leading to the entrance is private, and that explains the quiet: around the house there are olive trees and local flora, in front of it opens one of the largest parks fringing the shores of the lake, and the water is a few steps away.

The property presents itself as a house rather than a hotel. Sixteen rooms in all, divided between Comfort for two people, Matrimoniali on the ground floor and larger Deluxe, all with a private bathroom and air conditioning. The Wi-Fi covers both the interiors and the garden, the private parking includes one car space per room, and in the garden there is a bar open from morning to evening. Breakfast is a sweet and savoury buffet served in the veranda, with the option of having it brought to the room.

The age rule

The management explains it without beating about the bush: the spaces are meant for adult guests, and children are welcome from twelve years. It is therefore not a total adults only, but a house tuned to quiet, where anyone looking for a stay as a couple or a holiday of reading and walks will not find themselves next to families with small children.

There is no wellness area here and no pool: the relaxation is the olive garden, the terrace in the sun and the lake. From the hotel you can reach on foot, in about a kilometre and a half along the peninsula, the drawbridge of the castello Scaligero and the old town of Sirmione, with the Grotte di Catullo further on towards the tip. It is the right address for anyone who wants to sleep away from the bustle but stay within walking distance of the old town.
