Description

La Cascata is in the locality of Lenteney, the hamlet of La Salle that you come to going up the central valley of the Aosta Valley, halfway between Aosta and Courmayeur. The building is an old roadside café, restored and reopened in 2020 by the family management of Michela with her daughters Claudia and Camilla, and it looks straight onto the Lenteney waterfall, which in winter freezes into a sheet of ice and in summer is heard before it is seen. On the other side, above the roofs of the valley, is Mont Blanc.

The rooms

There are four rooms and they carry mountain names: Il Cervo, Il Fiocco di Neve, La Stella Alpina and Lo Tatà, the last of these equipped for guests with disabilities. Two look onto the waterfall. All have independent access, a double bed, a small balcony, a private bathroom with shower, a television and a desk, and they are soundproofed: the noise of the water comes in only if you leave the window open. In the room there is an eco friendly welcome kit with personal hygiene products. Each booking comes with a reserved car space in a covered, unattended car park.

The sauna, the bar and breakfast

The house does not have a spa in the usual sense of the word, and it is best not to expect one: there is a sauna, the stay includes one daily entry, but it can be used only during the opening hours of the bar, by booking to be notified at least twenty four hours before arrival and subject to availability. In winter its use also depends on the weather. A solarium with sun loungers for the warm season is announced but not yet in operation. No water and steam circuit is listed, nor a Turkish bath, nor a pool.

The strong point of the house is instead the bar with its panoramic terrace over the waterfall, open all year and not only to guests: breakfast from 7.30 to 9.30 with yoghurt, jams, local cured meats and cheeses, then cold lunches with sandwiches and focaccia, aperitifs and cocktails in the afternoon. There is no restaurant service for dinner.

The rules of access

The property states that it is designed exclusively for couples and that it is not suited to families. The site does not give a precise minimum age, so anyone travelling with an older teenager does well to ask before booking rather than take it for granted. Animals are not accepted on the premises, and the owners write this explicitly even though they have dogs and cats of their own. Check in is from 15, departure by 10.

Who it suits

It suits anyone who wants a quiet and inexpensive base for getting about the central Aosta Valley: Courmayeur and the Mont Blanc Skyway on one side, Aosta with its Roman remains on the other, both barely half an hour away by car, and the Val Vény and the Val Ferret within reach in a day. It suits couples who appreciate a small house, with four rooms and the owners always on hand. It suits less anyone looking for a wellness holiday: the sauna is an extra service, not the reason for the trip, and for dinner you have to go to La Salle or Morgex.

Frequently asked questions

Does La Cascata accept families with children?

No. The property states that it is designed exclusively for couples and that it is not suited to families.

Is there a minimum age for staying?

None is listed. The site of the property publishes no age threshold and this page does not state one: it says only what the owners state, that is that the house is designed for couples and is not suited to families. Anyone travelling with a teenager should put the question to the owners before booking (bblacascata.com, read on 1 September 2026).

Are pets allowed at La Cascata?

No. The owners write explicitly that they do not accept animals on the premises.

Is there a sauna?

Yes. The stay includes one daily entry to the sauna, usable only during the opening hours of the bar, by booking to be made at least twenty four hours before arrival and subject to availability. In winter its use depends on the weather. A summer solarium with sun loungers is announced but not yet in operation.

How do breakfast and meals work?

Breakfast is included and is served between 7.30 and 9.30 at the bar or, in fine weather, on the terrace. The bar prepares cold lunches, sandwiches and focaccia and serves aperitifs, but there is no restaurant service for dinner.
