Description

The Antica Dimora Dosio is at regione Serradenari 6, in La Morra, in the province of Cuneo. Serradenari is the name of the hill and at the same time that of one of the highest crus in the Barolo area, and the house is built at the point where the ground stops rising: around it there are nothing but vine rows, and on clear days beyond the hills you see the chain of the Alps. The building is the old farmhouse of the Dosio Vigneti winery, to which it is adjacent, built at the end of the nineteenth century and brought back to its original form by a conservative restoration that removed the additions layered on over time. The resort opened in 2023. We are in the wine landscape of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato recognised by UNESCO, a few minutes from the village of La Morra and from the villages of the Barolo.

How it is built

There are seven rooms and they carry the names of the materials and colours of the vineyard: Vinaccia, Nebbia, Acqua, Canapa, Arena, Arancio and Verde, two of them suites. They are furnished to measure, with natural materials such as brick, stone and wood recovered during the works and reinterpreted in a contemporary key, and all of them have a fireplace. Among the included services the property lists the garden, air conditioning, the lift, a kettle and a mini-fridge, a continental breakfast with sweet and savoury options, a concierge service, loungers and the solarium, parking, toiletries and wifi. For a charge there are added the tasting with a visit to the estate's own winery, experiences in the vineyard, a light lunch, an aperitif service and the hire of bicycles or a vespa. The kitchen is not a restaurant open to the public but a gourmet offering of local produce, with boards, aperitifs and light lunches that can be taken at the poolside or in the room. Sustainability is declared and documented: photovoltaic panels, rainwater collection in underground tanks for watering the garden, charging points for e-bikes and electric cars.

The wellness area and the pools

There is a single pool, outdoors, panoramic, and the property declares it for the exclusive use of guests: around it there are loungers and the solarium, and the view runs over the hills and the vineyards. No opening period or hours are published, so anyone arriving out of season should ask a direct question before booking, because an outdoor pool in the Langa is not usable all year round. Next to the pool there are a gazebo with an outdoor sitting area, designed for an aperitif at sunset, and a portico; a heated winter garden surrounds the whole property and is the house's answer to the in-between seasons. It must be said clearly that there is no spa here: the property declares no sauna, steam bath, whirlpool or treatment cabins, and has no indoor pool. The wellness it speaks of is that of the landscape, the silence and the vineyard, not that of a water and steam circuit.

The rules of access

On this the property is explicit: on its website's opening page it writes that the property is adults only. It publishes no minimum age in figures, though, and nor does the booking portal, which confines itself to stating that children are not allowed. Neither source, that is, says from what year upwards you may stay: all that is known is that minors are not admitted. Anyone travelling with a young person should ask for written confirmation before booking. Pets, by contrast, are allowed under precise conditions, which the property publishes: small dogs are accepted, up to 16 kilos, only in selected rooms, by prior arrangement, with a declared additional cost of 30 euros a day.

Who it suits

It suits anyone who comes to the Langhe for the wine and wants to sleep inside the vineyard, with the winery a few steps away and the tasting part of the day's round. It suits anyone looking for absolute silence and a small house, of seven rooms, with an open view of the Alps. It also suits anyone travelling by bicycle or electric car, since the charging is there. It suits less anyone who wants a spa or a pool usable in winter, anyone looking for a restaurant open for dinner in the house and anyone who wants to do without a car, because you do not reach the top of Serradenari on foot.

Frequently asked questions

From what age can you stay at the Antica Dimora Dosio?

The property states on its own website that it is adults only, but publishes no minimum age in figures; the booking portal writes that children are not allowed and in turn gives no number. Neither source, therefore, says from what year upwards you may sleep here. Anyone travelling with a minor should ask for written confirmation before booking.

Is there a spa?

No. The property declares no sauna, steam bath, whirlpool or treatment cabins, and has no indoor pool. The only facility is the panoramic outdoor pool, for the exclusive use of guests, with loungers and a solarium, flanked by a gazebo with a sitting area, by the portico and by a heated winter garden that surrounds the building.

Can you bring dogs?

Yes, but with declared limits. The property accepts dogs up to 16 kilos, only in selected rooms and by prior arrangement, with a published additional cost of 30 euros a day. It is best to arrange it at the time of booking, because not all seven rooms are available for pets.

What can you do at the winery?

The residence is adjacent to the Dosio Vigneti winery, which belongs to the estate. Among its extra services the property offers a circuit that starts from the vineyards around the estate, goes on with a visit to the winery and closes with a tasting of the house wines. There are also experiences in the vineyard, picnics among the vine rows, bicycle outings and the hire of a bike or a vespa.
