Description
The AMRAI Suites are at Außerlitzstraße 23, in Schruns, the main village of the Montafon, in Vorarlberg, at around seven hundred metres of altitude and a few minutes from the lifts of the Hochjoch and the Golm. The house carries the name of a shepherdess of the valley and has made a language out of it: the rooms are called Schafgemach, the dining rooms Stobas, and the children are the Lämmchen, the little lambs. It is a hotel of contemporary architecture in dark wood, with the roof terrace facing the mountains.
Two spas, two different rules
The point that matters for anyone booking is that wellness here is divided into two worlds with different age thresholds, and the property writes it without beating about the bush. The Maisäß Spa, on the roof, is the reserved one: the house presents it as Lämmchenfrei, adults only, and defines it as a refuge for everyone aged 18 and over. Inside there are the Krüter-Stoba, a bio sauna at sixty degrees, the Finnish Gipfl-Stoba at ninety, the Diesigs Bänkle steam bath, the Gipflsee infinity pool facing the valley, the Maisäß-Mahd terrace, a sensory shower that reproduces the Montafon waterfall, a bar with herbal teas and snacks and three relaxation rooms with hayloft names: Bienaschtock, Heubóda, Maisäß-Stoba.
The Stólla Spa, on the basement floor, is instead the world open also to those travelling with children. The website explains that children may use the Kupfrbad, the pool at thirty-two degrees with an indoor and an outdoor part, with no age limit, and that from the threshold of 14 they may also enter the Stólla's sauna zone. There are the Kupfr-Stoba bio sauna at sixty degrees, the Finnish Schwitz-Stoba at ninety, the Warmbad at forty-two, the Alpsul Dampfbad at forty-five, the ice mist and the Montafon glacier grotto, four resting rooms and the sensory showers.
The rule on swimwear
The property answers explicitly on its useful information page: in the pools swimwear is required, while all the saunas of the two spas are swimwear-free zones. For anyone who wants more privacy the house recommends the rooms and suites fitted with a private sauna.
Practical matters
The pools are open from eight to twenty, the saunas from ten to twenty and the spa reception from eleven to eighteen. There are a gym, a programme of yoga and retreats, a list of treatments and the chance to book the Stólla Spa exclusively as a private spa from twenty to twenty-two. Dogs are allowed with a daily surcharge, at most two per unit, but they may not enter the wellness areas or the private pools. Wifi is free throughout the house. Among the restaurants, the Grüne Stóba is reserved for adults aged 18 and over.
It suits anyone travelling as a family who still wants a floor of real silence, and anyone looking for a swimwear-free sauna in a house that does not close its door to children. It suits less anyone looking for a single, undivided spa: here the division is the point.

Frequently asked questions
Do the AMRAI Suites accept children?
Yes. The hotel devotes a section of its website to the family holiday and offers family suites that take up to eight people. The restriction concerns only the Maisäß Spa and, in part, the sauna zone of the Stólla Spa.
From what age can you enter the Maisäß Spa?
From the age of 18. The official website presents it as an adults-only area and describes it as a refuge for everyone aged eighteen and over. In the Stólla Spa, by contrast, the pool is open to children with no age limit and the sauna zone from the age of 14.
Do you wear swimwear in the sauna?
No. Asked whether the spa areas are textilfrei, the property answers that in the pools swimwear is worn, while all the saunas of the two spas are swimwear-free zones. Anyone who prefers more privacy can choose a room or a suite with a private sauna.
Are dogs allowed at the AMRAI Suites?
Yes, with a surcharge per dog per night that includes a blanket, a bowl and a bed, and with a maximum of two dogs per unit. Dogs may not enter the wellness areas and the private pools, and throughout the property the lead is compulsory.
