Description

The Alpin Family Resort Seetal is on the Innere Embergstraße, in the Schmiedau locality just above Kaltenbach, at around five hundred and ninety metres of altitude, on a natural terrace that looks over the floor of the Zillertal and the villages on the other side. The house is in the hands of the Lechner family and has a double identity declared in its very name: it is a family resort and, at the same time, it keeps part of its wellness for adults alone.

The division of the saunas

The wellness department occupies over a thousand square metres. On its sauna page the property marks the cabins one by one: the panorama sauna for the infusions, twenty-one square metres at ninety degrees, with a view of Kaltenbach and the mountains, is given as adults only; the crystal steam bath is given as adults only; the Finnish sauna at ninety degrees and the Swiss pine sauna at sixty degrees are given as adults only. Then there is the textile sauna for families, at sixty-five degrees and open from 12:00 to 19:00, where you stay in swimwear and sweat together with your children. The sentence that closes the page is blunt: the remaining saunas are reserved for adults. On the website no threshold expressed in years appears, so it is worth asking for it when booking.

The Teufelsauna and the pond

Outside, in the garden, there are two things worth the journey. The Teufelsauna is a log-house sauna at eighty-five degrees planted next to the natural pond, with a view of the villages of the Zillertal, and you get there in a bathrobe and felt slippers. Above it, at six metres' height, is the Raum der Stille, the room of silence, clad entirely in Swiss pine, with a fireplace and a panorama over the valley. The bathing pond is of crystal-clear spring water, purifies itself and is open to young and old. Inside, the other rest room is called the Blumenhäusl and has water beds and a massage armchair, while the Kaltluftgarten serves for cooling down after the sauna.

The waters and the part for children

The panoramic indoor pool has the pool for the smallest ones built into it, kept at thirty-two degrees, and from there you move out into the heated outdoor infinity pool and onto the lounger meadow. The hours are long: from 7:00 to 21:00 for the indoor pool and for the outdoor one in summer, with two shorter windows in winter. There are swimming lessons for children, a water game in the outdoor adventure park, the climbing tower, the farm with animals to stroke, a programme for children and teenagers and full board devoted to the little ones. The spa department has quick access to the Kinderland, so parents can go and check on their children between one treatment and the next.

It suits anyone travelling with children who does not want to give up a sauna where the adults are on their own. It suits less anyone looking for complete silence: here the children are present, and audible.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Seetal accept families with children?

Yes, and it is its main vocation. The resort has an adventure park with a climbing tower, a farm with animals to stroke, a programme for children and teenagers, swimming lessons and full board devoted to the little ones.

Which saunas are reserved for adults?

The website gives as adults only the twenty-one-square-metre panorama sauna for the infusions at ninety degrees, the crystal steam bath, the Finnish sauna at ninety degrees and the Swiss pine sauna at sixty degrees. And it writes that the remaining saunas are reserved for adults.

What can children use?

The textile sauna for families, at sixty-five degrees and open from 12:00 to 19:00, where you stay in swimwear and sit with your children. And all the waters: the panoramic indoor pool with the pool for the smallest ones at thirty-two degrees, the heated outdoor infinity pool and the natural bathing pond in the garden.

Is there a declared minimum age for the saunas reserved for adults?

No. The official website marks the cabins as adults only and writes that the remaining saunas are reserved for parents, but it publishes no threshold expressed in years: it is worth asking the property directly before booking.

Can you bring pets?

Yes. The property declares a daily rate of twenty-five euros for a dog, cat, rabbit or hamster, food excluded, and specifies that pets are not allowed in the restaurant area and not in every room type.
