Stegersbach is of interest to anyone wanting a thermal holiday in which the wellness is not shared with the children's area. We are in Burgenland, the easternmost region of Austria, in a landscape of gentle hills where tourism has turned for years around the baths and golf. It is a destination for staying, not for sightseeing: you stop for a few days and go out little.
Why it works for a couple
The rhythm of the place helps. The hills around are walked or ridden by mountain bike without particular effort, the golf course takes up part of the day for those who play, and in the evening you dine in the village restaurants, where Burgenland cooking works heavily with the local red wines and with produce of the land. There is no nightlife, there is no old centre to queue through. If your idea of a holiday is alternating hot water, walks and the table, Stegersbach holds up well for three or four nights.
Thermal weekends and weekdays
The Austrian baths fill up at weekends and during the school holidays, when families mainly arrive. If you can choose, try midweek and the shoulder seasons: spring and autumn give the same comfort in the indoor pools with far less pressure on the shared spaces.
One thermal property, checked by hand
In Stegersbach our catalogue has a single verified property, to compare with the others present in Austria. We are not offering you a wide selection, because there is none: we prefer one checked address to a padded list of hotels open to everyone. On the page you find the distinction that really interests us, that is whether the property is fully adults only, with no minors in any area, or whether it reserves only the spa for adults. In a town built around the baths it is the second piece of information that makes the difference to the final result of the stay, so read it before booking.
