Adults-only hotels in the province of Pisa
Pisa is a town almost everyone crosses at a run, stopping long enough for a photograph and leaving again.

Volterra, Pisa, Tuscany, Italy
- B&bs and farm stays
The B&B La Pecora Nera is at via Mazzolla 22, in the village of Mazzolla, a handful of houses above the valley a few kilometres from Volterra, in the province of Pisa. It occupies restored rooms of the village's old convent and has three rooms, Eva, Frida and Eleonora, all of forty square metres and with a hot tub in the same room as the bed. There is no spa: no pool, no sauna, no steam room, but massages and treatments on request and an organic breakfast made in the house. On the minimum age and on pets the property's website declares nothing: this page keeps the figure from the booking portals, which give it as adults only and with pets allowed, and both points should be confirmed with the owners.

Pisa is a town almost everyone crosses at a run, stopping long enough for a photograph and leaving again. Those who stay the night discover a province with countryside, nature parks and inland villages far quieter than its most celebrated monument. In the catalogue the province of Pisa counts one property, in Mazzolla, checked by hand by our editors against the site's criteria.
Mazzolla, the countryside instead of the town
The province's only property is not in the town but in Mazzolla, which for a couple is probably an advantage: it means sleeping outside the tourist flow and reaching Pisa only when you feel like it. The page states whether the property is adults only in every area or whether the restriction concerns only the wellness area.
Piazza dei Miracoli at the right hours
Piazza dei Miracoli brings together the Leaning Tower, the cathedral and the baptistery, a complex of medieval architecture recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also where practically all the town's tourist pressure concentrates. The strategy is simple and it works: arrive very early in the morning or stay until after sunset, when the organised groups have already left.
San Rossore, the Versilia and university Pisa
Outside the monumental centre the province has wide spaces. The San Rossore park lends itself to days on foot or by bicycle, while the shore, from Marina di Pisa up to the Lucca Versilia, remains reachable for an outing, as does the shore of the province of Livorno. In town the presence of the university, one of the oldest in Italy, guarantees a calendar of events, exhibitions and lectures spread through the year. At the table you find spelt soup, cacciucco and chestnut-based sweets. The best months remain those outside summer, when the heat drops and the square breathes.
