In Lazio anyone looking for a hotel without children almost always falls into two types: those who want to come back from a day in Rome and find silence, and those who want to be well away from the city. In the catalogue you will find twenty-four properties checked by hand, in Rome and Ciampino, in Viterbo, in Alvito and on the island of Ponza.

Rome and around: the silence after the day

Rome is a tiring destination, and not because of children: it is the distances, the heat, the queues. An adults-only hotel in the city is not there to help you avoid the crowd, which is outside anyway, but to give you a predictable evening, a breakfast without a scrum and a silent pool or spa.

Ciampino widens the radius for anyone arriving by air or wanting to keep the car without paying for central parking. Viterbo, with its thermal tradition, is another logic again: a quiet base in the north of the region, good for anyone putting wellness before museums.

Sea and countryside

Ponza is the choice for anyone wanting to switch off properly. It is a small island, with limited capacity and marked seasonality: in July and August it fills up, while June and September remain far more manageable. Alvito takes you inland instead, where tourism is less intense and the properties are modest in size.

The whole property or only the spa

On every page we distinguish the two things that usually get confused. On one side the hotels where minors are not admitted in any area of the property. On the other those that welcome families but reserve the wellness area for adults: in Italy, outside the alpine arc, that is a less widespread policy than people believe, and that is why it has to be verified.

The big booking agencies offer no adults-only filter, so anyone looking for this feature ends up reading dozens of descriptions hoping to find it written. That is exactly the work we do, property by property, before putting it on the list, here as in all the other Italian regions.
