Princess Mare Hotel - Adults Only

The Princess Mare Hotel is in the heart of Naxos Chora, the island's main town, a few steps from the beach of Agios Georgios: the official website gives the property as facing the bay of Saint George, thirty metres from the sea. It is a position better explained on foot: the shallow sand and light wind of Agios Georgios on one side, the white alleys of the Chora and the Venetian Castle on the other, with no need for a car.

The house is one of those you recognise at once in the Cyclades: whitewashed volumes, bougainvillea in flower, natural materials, a low architecture that leans on the landscape instead of imposing itself. The family that runs it has been receiving guests since 1986, and you feel it in the way they are at reception and in the property's calm rhythm.

The rooms are divided into Standard Double and Superior, all with a sunny balcony, air conditioning, wifi, a fridge, an espresso machine, a flat-screen TV and a safe. Breakfast is a buffet. The property arranges transfers to and from the airport and the port, has an arrangement for car and motorbike hire and has public parking in the immediate vicinity.

To know before booking: the Princess Mare receives only adult guests, with a minimum age of sixteen. It has no pool and no wellness area, and it does not pretend to: it is a small, carefully kept seaside hotel, designed for anyone who wants to wake up near the water, have breakfast at a calm pace and spend the day out, among beaches, horse rides along the coast, bicycle outings and the inland villages of Naxos.
