Il Monile - Authentic Salento Hospitality near Otranto

Il Monile is on the strada provinciale 48, outside the built-up area of Otranto, in the Salento countryside that the host Francesca describes as the silence of the olive trees, two kilometres from the centre. The distances measured by Booking are short: 2.4 kilometres to the beach of the Marina, 2.6 to the Lido La Castellana, between 2.7 and 3.2 to the castle of Otranto and 3.9 to the port; the station of Otranto is 1.9 kilometres away and the Baia dei Turchi 6. The private parking on site is free.

The host writes that there are only two rooms, each with its own equipped private veranda, air conditioning and heating. The units have a private bathroom, towels and bed linen provided, and Booking lists among the services the daily tidying, the luggage store, room service and private check-in and check-out. The WiFi is free and the rooms are non-smoking.

Outside there are a large shared garden, a terrace and a barbecue. There is no swimming pool and no spa area: the house relies on the quiet of the countryside and on being close to the sea and to the old centre of Otranto. Breakfast includes à la carte and Italian options; the host writes that it is home-made, with cakes baked in the house, tarts and local produce, served in the covered veranda.

The age rule is found in the rules of the property on Booking, in the children's conditions block: children are not allowed, and there are no cots or extra beds available. The line on the minimum age says that no age is required to check in, and the sentence about accompanied under-eighteens is the standard wording that Booking shows identically on many properties. The house does not publish a website of its own, so this page does not give an age in years. Pets are not allowed, smoking is not allowed and parties are not organised.

Check-in is from 15:30 to 21:30 and departure from 8 to 10; Italian, English and Spanish are spoken. Out of season the location remains convenient for the centre of Otranto, which Booking measures at between 2.7 and 3.2 kilometres from the house, and for the beaches of the Marina and of the Lido La Castellana, just over two kilometres away.
