Goldstück - Adults OnlyGoldstück - Adults OnlyGoldstück - Adults Only

Description

The Goldstück is at Obertaxingweg 534, in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, in the Salzburg region. On the exact locality the two sources do not agree: Booking places the house in the hamlet of Vorderglemm, while the website's frequently asked questions write that the Goldstück is in Saalbach, in the hamlet of Jausern, in a quiet position and well connected to the ski area. The street and house number are the same on every source read. Booking presents it as a four-star hotel and rates the position at 9; the casino and Zell am See railway station are given at 14 kilometres and Salzburg airport at 83. The website calls it an adults-only boutique hotel and declares twenty-eight modern double rooms, small and each furnished in its own right; the hotel opens by season, in winter and in summer, with dates that change from year to year.

Adults only from the age of 16

The website's frequently asked questions answer without beating about the bush the question of whether children are allowed: the Goldstück is an adults-only hotel from the age of 16 upwards. In the same answer the house gives the solution for anyone travelling with children, that is, its sister hotel the Sonnegg, five minutes on foot. Booking says the same thing in its Child policies block, where it writes that children of at least 16 are welcome, adds that there are no cots or extra beds and marks the property as Adults only; in the house's rules, though, it gives 18 as the minimum age for check-in, which is the age for putting the booking in your name and not the age of entry. The threshold in this entry is sixteen, on which the two sources agree.

The infinity pool and the sauna

The website sums the wellness area up in three items: the outdoor infinity pool, heated all year round, the Finnish sauna with the bio sauna, and the resting room. The house declares the hours: the wellness area opens from 15 to 21, and in bad weather earlier too; the pool is open all day in summer and from 15 to 21 in winter. Booking records it as a free outdoor pool, open all year round, reserved for adults, infinity, heated and with a view, with towels, loungers and parasols, and adds among the wellness services the relaxation room and the lockers. Next to the pool the website announces a novelty, the Wonnendeck: a poolhouse that serves as a relaxation space for guests and, at the same time, as a room for events and seminars. Among the highlights at the top of the page the house also lists massages and yoga. On the rule for swimwear in the sauna the website says nothing: it is worth asking reception.

Table, rooms and services

Breakfast, which the house calls Frühglück, is always included, and dinner works with the Grab & Stay formula: two dishes prepared fresh every day, one of them vegetarian, plus salad and dessert. Gluten-free and lactose-free dishes are obtained by flagging intolerances in advance. Booking gives the breakfast as a buffet, continental or vegetarian, among the most appreciated items, and adds the bar, the snack bar, the on-site coffee shop and the option of breakfast in the room. The rooms, Booking writes, have a sitting area with a sofa, a desk, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a streaming service, a safe, a coffee machine, a kettle and a private bathroom with shower, bathrobe and slippers, and some a kitchen with fridge and hob; the website warns that air conditioning is only in the restaurant area and not in the rooms, and names some categories, Morning Glory, Window to Eden and the Signature ones. Check-in is from around 15 and check-out by 11; late arrival is possible with notice, while Booking notes the night-time closure and quiet between 22 and 7. The parking in front of the hotel is free, and for the Morning Glory, Window to Eden and Signature categories a garage space is included; charging points for electric cars are both outside and in the garage. For skiing the house gives the Schönleitenbahn at around 500 metres in its frequently asked questions and at 400 metres elsewhere on the website, and the Schmitten X-Press at 2 kilometres; the ski bus stops in front of the hotel and the house has a shuttle of its own that takes guests to the lift in the morning and collects them in the afternoon. The Taxing bus stop is a few steps away, public transport throughout the province of Salzburg is free and the property sends the ticket to anyone arriving by public transport. Booking also lists free wifi throughout the property, the sale of ski passes, the ski store, the shared room with a TV area, the outdoor fireplace, the terrace and the solarium terrace, the garden, daily cleaning, the tour desk, express check-in and check-out, the lift, the hypoallergenic room and paid meeting spaces. Dogs are allowed with a surcharge, and the website specifies that they may not go into the restaurant, the bar and the wellness area.
