FAYN Garden Retreat Hotel

The FAYN garden retreat hotel is in via Breitofen, at Lagundo, in the belt of orchards that separates the village from Merano: far enough out of the centre to have silence and an open view of the mountains, close enough to reach the thermal baths and the old town in a few minutes. It is a small, family-run house, with contemporary lines, natural materials and panoramic balconies, designed for adults looking for a retreat and not a hotel to pass through.

The Mediterranean garden of two thousand five hundred square metres is the real sitting room of the property, with its sunbathing areas and a meditation garden. The kitchen works with regional and seasonal produce, accompanied by South Tyrolean wines.

The wellness area

Here the spa really does exist and it is well developed. The sauna route includes the traditional South Tyrolean Stubensauna, the clay sauna with its soft heat and the new salt cabin with infrared. Those looking for steam will find it: the aromatic and saline steam bath is there, and it is flanked by the ice grotto for the hot and cold contrast. The rest rooms have water beds and there are several quiet corners in which to stop, as well as the beauty centre for treatments and massages and the vitality bar.

There are three pools and this is the figure that changes the holiday: an indoor pool at thirty degrees that opens onto the garden, an outdoor infinity pool also at thirty degrees and heated all year round, and a massage pool at thirty-four degrees looking out over the apple orchards. Swimming outdoors in winter is therefore possible: this is not a summer-only installation.

The FAYN suits anyone who wants a quiet base for walking and cycling in the Merano area and coming back to a complete spa, with steam and not only the sauna.
