Cozy rooms in the center of Bled by the lake is in Prešernova cesta, the road that runs above the northern shore of Lake Bled, at 514 metres of altitude and below the castle crag. It is not a hotel and not an independent apartment either: these are rooms inside a family house, with a shared kitchen available to guests, and the host declares it openly, calling the formula a family lodging reserved for adults. Grajska beach is reached in seven minutes on foot, the castle in eight, the sports hall is eight hundred metres away and the island in the lake 3.3 kilometres.

The house is that of people who live the mountains. In the photographs uploaded by the host, alongside the rooms there appear the lake in winter, the snowy crests of the Julian Alps, ski-touring skis and the wooden jetty from which you look at the island church: it is the sign of the kind of guest this house expects, that is, someone who comes to walk, cycle or ski and in the evening wants a quiet room in the centre without paying the price of a hotel on the lakeside. The rooms are plain and small, with a bed and a window onto the greenery; the shared kitchen is equipped and there is a dining corner with a bench. Among the services the host lists free wifi, private express check-in and check-out, room service, a mini-market, luggage storage, a ski store, parking for bicycles and the hire of bicycles and badminton equipment, as well as surveillance active all day. There is also a shuttle to Ljubljana airport, thirty-four kilometres away.

The admission of guests is clear: the booking portal, in its child policies section, writes that children are not allowed and specifies that there are no cots or extra beds; the property's own description explicitly speaks of adults-only lodging. The age in figures, though, is published by no one. The house has no official website and the portal gives no threshold at all, adding only that no minimum age is required for check-in, a rule that concerns whoever registers and not whoever sleeps. This entry is therefore based on the portal and says so: for a guest under eighteen a written answer from the host is needed.

The house rules are those of a short shared life among adults: there is no smoking, no parties or events are held, stag or hen groups are not accepted, pets are not allowed and quiet is to be respected between 23.00 and 06.00. The shared kitchen is convenient but means meeting the other guests, something anyone looking for total isolation must reckon with.

Around it there is the whole repertoire of Bled: the circuit of the lake on foot, the climb to the viewpoints of Ojstrica and Osojnica, the Vintgar gorge a quarter of an hour away by car, Lake Bohinj and the Triglav National Park half an hour off, the lifts of Straža and Zatrnik in winter.

It suits anyone travelling light who wants to be in the centre a step from the water and would rather spend on the outings than on the room. It suits less anyone who wants completely private space and a kitchen all to themselves.
