The Chania Flair is in via Petrof, in the Nea Chora district: the strip of Chania where the city meets the sandy beach, some sixty metres from the water and a few minutes on foot from the Venetian harbour and the old centre. It is a five-star boutique hotel of the Corissia group, which has joined Hilton's Tapestry Collection, designed for an adult public: the rooms are booked from the age of fourteen upwards.

All the wellness on the roof

The wellness area is not in the basement but on the top floor, and that is the choice that characterises the property. On the panoramic terrace, with the bay of Chania on one side and the White Mountains of Crete on the other, there is a relaxation area that can be left open or closed depending on the season and the wind. Inside there are a heated pool of twenty square metres, the sauna, the loungers and the solarium, and their use is included in the stay without a surcharge.

There is no steam bath: the list published by the property stops at the sauna, and anyone looking for steam should know that in advance. In its place there is a wide space fitted out for treatments, the Flair Wellness Suite, with aromatic massages, hot stones, deep tissue, candle massage, facial treatments, scrubs, wraps and hand and foot care, all by reservation at reception. Also on the top floor is the gym, with a hundred and eighty degree view of the sea and equipment that includes treadmills, cross trainers, cycle ergometers, rowing machines, Kinesis and TRX.

The rest of the day is played outside: the beach of Nea Chora in front, the fish tavernas on the seafront, the Venetian maze a walk away. A property suited to anyone who wants an elegant urban base in Crete with the sea within sandal reach.
