Casadorata

CasAdorata is in via Ombrina, in Donnalucata, the fishing village of Scicli that faces the Sicilian Channel and became famous with the filming of Commissario Montalbano. The Spiaggia di Ponente, fine sand and shallow water, is about two hundred and fifty metres away; the village with its fish market, the bars for granita, the shops and the chemist is reached on foot in a few minutes. The house is a former farmworkers' dwelling of 1955, restored with local materials until it became a class A residence that has kept the walls, the arches and the verandas of the rural Iblean tradition.

There are five units, all with an independent entrance and an equipped veranda: from the Cieloblu double room to the Stellabianca suite, through to the Sabbiadoro and Solerosso apartments and the Mareverde cottage, with a kitchenette and a view over the sea. Inside there are air conditioning for heating and cooling, a smart tv, wifi throughout the property, bed linen and towels, and outside a covered private car park.

The centre of outdoor life is the private swimming pool with its solarium, surrounded by the garden of succulents, by the wisteria and by the gazebo with the barbecue area. It is an outdoor pool and it is not heated, and the house stays open in the mild season: from the first of November to the thirty-first of March the property is closed. Anyone looking for a spa should know it beforehand: there is no sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool tub or massage room here. The list of the services of the property stops at the pool with solarium, the vegetable garden, the garden and the household services, laundry and ironing included, with a shuttle service on request.

The age rule is stated by the owners without beating about the bush: the property is not suitable for children under twelve and is presented as a no kids house. The minimum stay is four nights, in July and August bookings are by the week. It is the place for couples and for friends who want a slow, quiet holiday, with the sea nearby and the countryside around.
