Description
The AVITA Resort is at Thermenplatz 1, inside the thermal park of Bad Tatzmannsdorf, in the district of Oberwart, in southern Burgenland, at about three hundred and sixty metres above sea level, an hour by car from Vienna. It is a four star superior built together with the AVITA Therme, voted wellness thermal baths of the year in Austria three times.
The house welcomes families: in the thermal baths there is a pool for children, the price list has rates for little ones from zero to five years and for children and teenagers from six to fifteen, and among the accommodation there are a family suite of forty-seven to fifty square metres, the King Size Suite of sixty-seven and the Penthouse of one hundred and twenty, as well as the Wellnesszimmer from twenty-four to thirty-six. The wellness area reserved for hotel guests, however, opens only from 13 years upwards: the property writes that the AVITA Exklusiv is available to all guests from that age, precisely in order to keep the quiet atmosphere its customers appreciate.
AVITA Exklusiv, from 13 years
This is the water, sauna and rest section that belongs to the hotel alone, separate from the public thermal baths, with its own towel desk and a tea and fruit bar open all day. The highlight is the infinity pool: about one hundred and seventy-five square metres of thermal water at 36 degrees that run from indoors to outdoors, with ergonomic water sofas and the open view over Bad Tatzmannsdorf. There are four saunas here: a panoramic one between 90 and 100 degrees with a glass wall and contoured loungers, a brine steam oasis between 42 and 48, and two infrared cabins between 45 and 48 designed for two people. Guests rest in the Panorama Ruheraum, looking out over the region, and in the Sauna Ruheraum Relax on the floor below. From the AVITA Exklusiv one steps out into the hotel's enclosed garden, with loungers and hammocks.
The saunas of the thermal baths, without a costume
Hotel guests also have free access to the Sauna Garten Eden, sixteen saunas, and to the AVITA Lady's Spa, four saunas reserved for women, for a total of twenty-four saunas counting those of the Exklusiv. The rule on costumes is stated without beating about the bush: in the Sauna Garten Eden one is textilfrei, that is with nothing on, and the property explicitly describes this as possible and desired. Outdoors there are the costume-free swimming pool at 36 degrees under a waterfall, three cold plunge pools and wide lawns for sunbathing. Among the saunas are Austria's first snow sauna, between 11 and 5 degrees below zero, two saunas dedicated to Uhudler, the typical wine of southern Burgenland, the Event Seesauna with its show infusions, the low-temperature Darre, the tepidarium, the Suhle mud bath and three infrared lounges with salt stones. On the minimum age for the Sauna Garten Eden the website states nothing: the certain figure of 13 years applies to the AVITA Exklusiv.
Practical matters
On the day of arrival guests can enter the thermal baths, the saunas and the AVITA Exklusiv from 9 onwards, collecting the bag with bathrobe and towels at reception; the room is ready from 14 and is vacated at 11, with the chance to stay in the thermal baths until the evening at half the rate. There are a fitness centre for a fee, the AVITA Premium Spa for treatments and the MEDITA restaurant.
It suits those travelling with older teenagers who want a quiet thermal pool, and those who take their sauna the way it is taken in Austria. It suits less those with small children who hoped to bring them into the reserved part as well, and those who will not give up a costume in the sauna.
