Description

The Art House Radovljica looks onto Linhartov trg, the medieval square that is the heart of the old centre of Radovljica, in Upper Carniola, at 492 metres above sea level. The house is a few steps from the town museum housed in the Radovljiška graščina, five minutes on foot from the parish church of St Peter and from the bus station; the Bled golf course is four and a half kilometres away and Bled Castle seven. This page does not come from the property's own website, because it has none: the source is the booking portal, and it is worth knowing that before taking the details as certain.

The units declared are three: a room with two single beds and a city view of twenty-one square metres, and two studios, one of thirty-five and one of fifty square metres with a balcony. The portal says that the rooms are above a working ceramics workshop and that two of them are in the roof space, under exposed beams; the photographs of the house show wooden floors, rugs, ceramics hanging from the beams, pictures and bookshelves, and that is why the people who sleep here talk mostly about the interiors. Each unit has its own separate entrance and soundproofing, a sitting area with a table, a desk, heating, a kettle, a fridge and glasses, a private bathroom with a shower, a separate toilet, a hairdryer, towels and toiletries.

There is no restaurant and breakfast is not included in any of the units: you go out, and the old centre with its places to eat is on the same square. The portal lists free wifi, parking, private check-in and check-out and the option of having walks, bicycle rides and cultural visits arranged at a charge. Smoking is not allowed indoors. Pets are allowed, and at no extra charge: it is an uncommon choice among adults only properties, and for anyone travelling with a dog it is the thing that makes the difference. Arrival is between 15 and 20, departure between 8 and 10, so anyone landing late in Ljubljana has to give notice.

On the age question the property has no official website on which anything can be checked, and this page rests entirely on the portal, which states that children are not allowed; the house rules published on the listing also give eighteen as the minimum age for check-in, and specify that stag and hen groups are not accepted. No source from the property publishes a different threshold: anyone travelling with older teenagers should ask for written confirmation before booking.

It suits anyone who wants a quiet base in the valley between Bled and Bohinj, who is happy to sleep inside an artist's house rather than a hotel, and who perhaps brings the dog along. It suits less anyone looking for breakfast served, a lift or hotel services: here there are three rooms in an old house, on a square closed to traffic.
