Description
The Appart Hotel Pitschonia is at Pitgogna 10, in Andeer, in the canton of Graubünden. The website of the house describes the position as the heart of the spa village of Andeer, in the Beverin nature park, between the Viamala and Roffla gorges. Booking puts the Naturpark Beverin at seven kilometres, the Schwert restaurant at one hundred metres, the Gourmetrestaurant im Hotel Post Andeer and the Post restaurant at two hundred, and Thusis station at eleven kilometres. The score is 9.2 from one hundred and sixty reviews, and the location is rated 9.5.
The age is published by the property, not by Booking. On the page devoted to the hotel the website writes, under the heading "Adults only", that many couples come here for a wellness stay without children and that, having no facilities for children, the hotel is reserved exclusively for adult guests, possibly accompanied by young people aged fifteen and over; the German text says the same thing with the words "exklusiv für erwachsene Gäste, allenfalls in Begleitung von adulten Jugendlichen (ab 15 Jahren)". The Booking page is blunter and does not agree: it states that children are not allowed and names no figure, adding that there are no cots or extra beds. The primary source prevails, that is the website, and so the threshold of the house is fifteen years. The eighteen years that can be read on Booking concern check-in and are not the rule of the hotel.
The building rests on foundations more than two hundred years old, born as a farm building and later turned into a house for residents and guests; from 1960 it was the annexe of the Hotel Weisses Kreuz. With the complete refurbishment on ecological principles the seventeen small rooms became seven large apartments and two suites with apartment, nineteen beds in all. Check-in is automatic: you book, you fill in your details in advance and at the hotel terminal you programme the room badge yourself. Arrival is from 15 and departure by 11.
The units have a sitting area, a flat-screen television with satellite channels, soundproofing and a private bathroom with shower and toiletries, plus a fridge, a microwave oven and a coffee machine; for the units Booking reports a mountain view, a landmark view, a garden view and a view of the inner courtyard. At the top of the building, facing south, there is a roof terrace of fifty-five square metres that the website calls "Liorasei", available to all guests and reached by the lift for disabled guests. The garage serves as a store for skis, snowshoes and bicycles and has a washing machine and a tumble dryer for sports clothing. Parking is free in the village's public spaces and a disabled space is in the immediate vicinity.
The house rules are few and clear. There is no smoking, parties and events may not be held, the property does not accept stag or hen groups and asks for quiet between 22 and 8. Dogs are not allowed, and the website explains why: Andeer is also a place of treatment, among the spa guests there are people with allergies and the house sets great store by hygiene.

Frequently asked questions
From what age can you stay at the Appart Hotel Pitschonia?
From fifteen years. The website of the property writes that the hotel is reserved exclusively for adult guests, possibly accompanied by young people aged fifteen and over, and explains that the house has no facilities for children. The Booking page says only that children are not allowed, with no figure: the website prevails.
What do you book, a room or an apartment?
An apartment. The website counts seven large apartments and two suites with apartment, nineteen beds in all, all with a fully equipped kitchen. Among the units on sale Booking lists a Camera Queen Standard and several Ampie Camere Matrimoniali, all with a kitchenette or private kitchen, private bathroom, flat-screen TV and terrace.
How does check-in work if there is no reception?
On your own, at the terminal. You book, you fill in your own details and those of your travelling companions in advance, and at the hotel terminal you follow the procedure to programme the room badge. Arrival is from 15, departure by 11, and the badge is left in the basket provided on departure. Booking asks you to give your arrival time in advance.
Is there a communal outdoor area?
Yes, the roof terrace. The website calls it "Liorasei", which in Romansh means roughly "up high, outside where it is lovely": fifty-five square metres facing south, freely available to all guests and reached by the lift for disabled guests. Guests in a wheelchair need assistance at the entrance.
Are animals allowed?
No. Booking states that animals are not allowed and the website explains it: Andeer is also a place of treatment, among the spa guests there are people with allergies and the house does not take dogs in the rooms, fond of them though it is.
