Ansitz Battisti Suites

The Ansitz Battisti is in the Feld locality at number 4, below the village of Caldaro, along the road that runs down towards the lake: coming from Bolzano you pass the centre towards Lake Caldaro, turn off before the third roundabout and follow the signs of the cycle path to Ora. The house is a historic residence of 1605, today listed, restored by the Battisti family, who also own an organic wine estate. Around it there are nothing but vineyards and apple orchards, with no direct neighbours, and the view reaches Lake Caldaro and the Leuchtenburg.

There are eight suites and they take at most twenty people in all. The three snuggest are the Junior Suites, on the second floor: David of around 32 square metres with a terrace towards Caldaro, Melanie of 24 with a loggia over the lake and Daniel. The Deluxe Suites are six: Edit and Hannes of 40 square metres with a loggia over the lake and Mathilde of 40 with a large terrace towards the village, on the second floor; on the first floor Helmuth of 60 square metres for four people, Wilma of 50 for four and Toni of 55 for four with a balcony over the lake. Each has a different character and, according to its category, a freestanding tub, a private sauna, a wine cabinet or a tiled stove, as well as a balcony, loggia or private garden.

The shared part is outdoors and revolves around the Mediterranean garden. The pool is of salt water and measures sixteen metres by six, facing the lake, and next to it there is an outdoor whirlpool for a maximum of eight people; both stay open until 23.00, and on summer evenings the house lights the area for its Pool Nights. No indoor pool is on record, and the property declares no shared sauna area: the saunas are private and are inside certain suites, together with changing rooms, showers and toilets at the poolside that may be used after check-out too. Bathrobes, sauna towels and a wellness bag are included.

The stay includes a Deluxe Brunch from 8.00 to 12.00 and, from midday onwards, Mediterranean nibbles, fruit, cakes and snacks. Drinks at the poolside are paid for separately. On Mondays and Thursdays the chef Simon prepares a three-course dinner at 70 euros per person, under the vaults or on the terrace, and for stays of at least seven nights one dinner for two is offered by the house. Also included are a parking space per suite with a charging point, a locked store for bicycles and the wifi.

On age the property publishes no figure. The official website repeats the Adults Only formula on every page and speaks of boutique suites for adults, but gives no threshold in years. The usable figure therefore comes from the booking portal, which states that children are not allowed and that no minimum age is required for check-in; no cots or extra beds are available. Anyone who needs a precise threshold, for instance travelling with a teenage child, must ask the house for it in writing.

On the rest: pets are allowed on request and without a surcharge. Check-in is from 15.00, with a free early check-in that allows use of the pool, the garden and the lounge before entering the suite; check-out is by 10.00, with late departure until 19.00 at 50 euros per person. The tourist tax is 2.50 euros and cancellation is free up to ten days beforehand.

It suits anyone looking for isolation and a view, with a pool you really can swim in and the sauna inside the room. It suits less anyone who wants a shared spa or a pool usable in winter.
