Annex Antika

The Annex Antika is at Kirchstrasse 42, in the centre of Zermatt, in the canton of Valais, next to the Antika hotel; the house's website presents it as the hotel's two-star annexe, in a nearby building, and Booking classifies it as a guesthouse. The Matterhorn Museum is 150 metres away, the Chez Max Julen restaurant two, the Brasserie Uno twenty and the Monoloco forty; the Zermatt-Sunnegga funicular is 600 metres away, the Cervino Express gondola and the lift to Furi 700, and Zermatt railway station 700.

The first thing to know concerns the reach of the rule. What does not accept children is the Annex, that is, the house you sleep in and that you book here: Booking, in its Child policies block, writes that children are not allowed and adds that cots and extra beds are not available at the property. Breakfast and the wellness area, by contrast, are not in the Annex: the website writes that they are used in the main building of the Antika hotel, twenty metres away, which is a separate property with its own page and its own rules, and no source states that it too is reserved for adults. Anyone booking here, in short, sleeps in a house without children but has breakfast and goes to the sauna in a hotel that does not promise the same.

The age, in any case, is not there: Booking writes only the ban, with no figure at all, and under the next entry states that no minimum age is required for check-in; the house's website speaks neither of children nor of age. The property, that is, does not publish the age.

You sleep in twin rooms and in single rooms, on the ground floor or in the basement; Booking warns that the economy rooms are in the basement and that they do have a window, for natural light and air. The website lists in every room a private shower and WC, a hairdryer, a make-up mirror, a flat-screen TV with radio, WiFi access and a safe.

In the main building, twenty metres away, there are the buffet breakfast, included, and the wellness area with the sauna, the sanarium, the steam bath and an infrared armchair, which Annex guests use free of charge. The ski store has a boot warmer, and the slope bus, the house writes, takes you in a few minutes to within a step of all Zermatt's ski areas. Free WiFi covers the common areas.

Arrival is from 15 to 21 and departure from 8 to 11. There is no smoking; pets are allowed on request and a surcharge may apply; cash is not accepted, only credit cards; for bookings of more than three rooms the property may apply different conditions and surcharges.
