L'Angolo Dello Zio

L'Angolo Dello Zio is in via Cavour, inside the town of San Vito Lo Capo, on the north-western tip of Sicily. Booking gives five hundred metres from San Vito Lo Capo beach: you are in the fabric of the town, not in an isolated property, and for the sea, the bars and the restaurants no car is needed. The Monte Cofano Nature Reserve is twenty-two kilometres away, the Mangiapane Cave twenty-three, Segesta forty-eight.

It is a small guesthouse, carved out of a white two-storey house with wrought-iron balconies. The rooms have a private bathroom with a shower and toiletries, a flat-screen television, air conditioning and a wardrobe; some have a balcony. The property declares allergen-free rooms and rooms accessible to guests with disabilities, and it is entirely non-smoking. Booking declares an Italian breakfast; several guests write in their reviews that it is not served inside the house but in the family pastry shop a short way off, so it is worth asking the property how it works. The shared space is the terrace, with small tables under the white pergola.

The rule on age comes from Booking, in the Child policies block, and it is the bluntest formula the portal uses: children are not allowed. There are no cots or extra beds. The minimum age of eighteen given on the page concerns only whoever does the check-in, and that is a different matter. Pets are not allowed.

There is no wellness area: no sauna, steam bath, hot tub or pool. The only shared space is the terrace. Anyone arriving late should say so beforehand: the property applies a surcharge for check-in in the evening slot and asks for confirmation for every out-of-hours arrival. Quiet is asked for between midnight and seven.
