Ana Rooms Bled

Ana Rooms Bled occupies a private house at Koritenska cesta 22, in the upper part of Bled above the Seliše district, in Upper Carniola, at 503 metres above sea level. The centre of Bled is reached on foot in about ten minutes and the Seliše bus stop in five; the Grajsko kopališče beach is a little under twenty minutes' walk away and the castle around two kilometres. From the terraces you see the Karawanks and the plain towards Lesce. The property is run by a private host and has no official website: the source of this entry is the booking portal, together with the photographs uploaded by the host.

The units are independent ones inside the house, with a living area with a sofa, a corner for preparing food with a kettle, a coffee machine, a fridge and crockery, a wardrobe, a flat-screen television and a private bathroom with a shower, separate toilet, hairdryer, towels and toiletries; bed linen is included. Nearly all have a patio or terrace with a table and chairs facing the garden, which is the best part of the house: hedges, lavender in pots and the mountains in front. There is no breakfast served, and there is no reception: arrival and departure are self-managed, with the handover of keys arranged in advance. The portal gives private parking included, wifi at no charge, a place for bicycles and bicycle hire. There is no smoking in the house and pets are not allowed. Arrival is arranged between 15 and 21, departure between 7 and 10.

It is an apartment formula more than a hotel one, and it makes sense to see it for what it is: no catering service, no shared indoor space, but real square metres, a kitchen for making your own breakfast and the advantage of being in a residential district, away from the coaches that unload in front of the lake. Anyone arriving without a car has to reckon on a climb on the way back from the centre, because the house is above the main road.

On age there is a single source. The portal declares the property reserved for adults and writes that children are not allowed, but nobody publishes a threshold in figures: with no website for the property there is no way of knowing whether the limit is sixteen or eighteen. Anyone travelling with older teenagers, or anyone who wants the certainty of not finding children in the house, should ask the host for written confirmation before booking.

It suits anyone who wants to spend a fair amount in Bled, cook something for themselves and stay in a quiet house with a view of the mountains. It suits less anyone looking for breakfast, a reception and hotel services, or anyone who would rather not walk uphill.
