Description

Amira Resort is at via Nuova del Faro 96, in the south-western part of Anacapri, the area that runs down towards the Punta Carena lighthouse and the coast of the Bourbon Forts. It is not the village centre, which stays around one and a half kilometres away, but the island's high countryside: olive trees, agaves, dry-stone walls and the open view to the west, over the sea and over the sunsets guests mention in almost every review. The property is small, four rooms in all, and is run directly by the owners, Giuseppe and his family, with Paolo at the wheel of the shuttle.

How it is built

The rooms are doubles, all with a king size double bed, and the categories run from the Double room with sea view to the Deluxe with balcony and sea view. The interiors are in the island style, carefully rebuilt: white barrel vaults, floors in green or blue ceramic, headboards set into coloured niches, a private bathroom, air conditioning, a minibar, a safe, a desk, a TV and a kettle for tea and coffee. Some rooms have a balcony or a small private garden facing the sea. The property is registered as a bed and breakfast and is run by a private host, with daily cleaning. Breakfast is a buffet, Italian in style, served from 8.00 to 10.00, with fresh pastries, pancakes and juices, and in the warm season it can be taken on the balcony.

The wellness area and the pools, named for what they are

Here it must be said clearly, because the word resort can mislead: there is no pool. The booking portal declares none, neither indoor nor outdoor, and in the list of fittings a whirlpool, the solarium terrace, the garden and the outdoor sitting area appear instead. No spa with a sauna or a steam bath is on record either: wellness here is the tub, the greenery and the silence. Anyone looking for a water and steam circuit must look elsewhere; anyone looking for a garden with olive and lemon trees, lawns, seats in the shade and the view over the open sea finds exactly this.

The rules of access

The property has no official website of its own, so the figures in this entry come from the booking portal, which is the source the manager himself keeps updated. The portal writes, in those words, that children are not allowed, and the same page specifies that cots and extra beds are not available for any room type. No minimum age is published in figures, though: this entry therefore records the outright ban on minors together with the fact that the property declares no threshold in years. Anyone travelling with a sixteen- or seventeen-year-old finds no number written anywhere and does well to ask for written confirmation before booking. Pets are not allowed, there is no smoking and parties or stag and hen gatherings are not accepted. Check-in is from 15.00 to 18.00, check-out from 8.00 to 10.00, and the time of arrival must be given in advance.

Who it suits

It suits the couple who want Capri without the crush of Capri: here you sleep outside the centre, dine at a calm pace and come back by shuttle, because the property offers a free transfer service from the port of Marina Grande and to points around the island, which is the reason many guests come back. There is free private parking, not a given on the island, and luggage storage for the last day. It suits less anyone who wants to walk to the piazzetta without transport, anyone looking for a pool, and anyone travelling with a dog, which does not come in here.
