Description

The Alpin Life Resort Lürzerhof is in Dorfstraße, in the village of Untertauern, the first settlement you meet climbing from the Pongau towards the Tauern pass and towards Obertauern, at a little over a thousand metres of altitude. It is a hotel that bets avowedly on families: a children's club from zero to fourteen, a games room with a tower and a tube slide, a bowling lane, a children's cinema, childcare during the Austrian school holidays and family rooms with separate bedrooms. The Untertauern wildlife park is right opposite the entrance. The wellness area, though, does not follow the same logic, and that is the point worth clearing up before booking: the Adults only SPA is reserved for guests aged 16 and over, and the property writes in black and white that it is a nude department.

That is the rule no portal reports: in the adult department you go without swimwear. Anyone who prefers the sauna in swimwear still has an alternative in house, because the families' steam bath is open to young and old. The reserved department spreads over two levels. On the ground floor, in the Nature Spa, there are the See Event Sauna with its themed water infusions, changed every day and accompanied by music and scents, the infrared Mountain Cinema, the Alpin Bubble whirlpool kept at 36 degrees all year round, the experience showers and the spring-water showers, the twenty-metre Sauna Natursee and the Pine Harmony silence room with its water beds. On the fifth floor, in the Sky Spa, there are the twenty-metre Sky Infinity Pool at 33 degrees, the panoramic Finnish sauna at 90 degrees, the panoramic bio sauna at 60, the herbal steam bath at 45 and the infrared loungers with a view, plus the two relaxation rooms Sky Cloud and Sky Dream. In all the house counts seven saunas and steam baths.

The website declares the hours: indoor saunas from 10.00 to 19.30, See Event Sauna from 13.00, sauna pond and Sky Infinity Pool from 9.00, whirlpool from 11.00. On Saturdays there is the SPA Night and the whole department stays open until 22.00. The spa as a whole measures 4,500 square metres and can also be booked as a day spa from outside.

The family side has water provision of its own: a panoramic indoor pool with a soft corner, a heated outdoor pool, a small pool for the littlest ones, a steam bath for everyone and a bathing pond. Out of the water there are the Gnadenalm, owned by the house, with a themed path passable with a pushchair too, free bike hire including children's bikes, and in winter the slopes of Obertauern and the toboggan run.

It suits anyone arriving with children who wants a real sauna, nude and silent, with the pond to dive into straight out of the cabin. It suits less anyone looking for a house that is entirely for adults, or anyone not at ease without swimwear: here the reserved department is explicitly a nude zone, and no swimwear time slot is provided.

Frequently asked questions

From what age can you enter the Lürzerhof's Adults only SPA?

From the age of 16. The property states it on the department's page, where it also specifies that it is a nude zone. The rest of the hotel is designed for families and receives children of every age.

Can you keep your swimwear on in the saunas reserved for adults?

No. The department is declared a nude zone, so the saunas and the sauna pond are used without swimwear. For anyone who prefers to cover up, the family steam bath remains, open to everyone.

What does the adult department include?

Seven saunas and steam baths over two levels: on the ground floor the See Event Sauna with themed infusions, the infrared cinema, the Alpin Bubble whirlpool at 36 degrees and the twenty-metre natural pond; on the fifth floor the Sky Infinity Pool at 33 degrees, the panoramic Finnish sauna at 90 degrees, the bio sauna at 60 and the herbal steam bath at 45.

What are the spa's opening hours?

Indoor saunas from 10.00 to 19.30, See Event Sauna from 13.00 to 19.30, sauna pond and Sky Infinity Pool from 9.00 to 19.30, whirlpool from 11.00 to 19.30. On Saturdays the SPA Night pushes closing time to 22.00.
