Description
The Romantik & Spa Alpen-Herz of the Schmid family is at number 40 Dorfstrasse, in the Überwasser locality, the upper part of the village of Ladis, in Tyrol, at around 1,237 metres of altitude. Ladis is the smallest and quietest of the three villages that make up the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area, above the Inn valley and some twenty kilometres from Landeck-Zams station; the post bus that climbs from the valley stops at the Ladis cable car, just before the hotel. The house belongs to the Romantik Hotels group.
Adults only, from the age of 16
The booking portal confines itself to writing that children are not allowed. The official website gives the figure, in a dry sentence on the page devoted to its choice of being a hotel for adults: the private atmosphere of the Alpen-Herz in Ladis can be enjoyed by guests aged sixteen and over. This entry therefore reports 16 years, the figure declared by the property.
Panorama Spa: 800 square metres and a garden
The wellness area is called the Panorama Spa and occupies 800 square metres, to which a thousand square metres of garden are added. The indoor pool is kept at 31 degrees all year round, has massage jets and counter-current swimming, is reachable at any time of day and in the evening, from 22.00, stays open for night bathing under soft lighting. From inside you move outdoors without leaving the water: the outdoor pool is heated in winter too and next to it there is a whirlpool at 35 degrees on the terrace facing the peaks. The hours for the outdoor part are from 15.00 to 19.00 in winter and from 10.00 to 19.00 in summer.
There are five saunas. The website details four of them: the Event-Sauna at 80 degrees, where the sauna master leads two or three steam infusions every afternoon between 16.30 and 18.45, some of them spectacular and others purely restful; the herbal sauna at 55 degrees; the aromatic sauna between 60 and 70 degrees; and the steam bath, with infusions as well, at 45 degrees. Around them are the sauna lounge on the third floor, a rest room with loungers, sleeping niches, a fireplace and a view of the Alps, an open-air terrace for cooling down and the pool terrace. The Kuschelgarten is the resting garden: onion-shaped gazebos, padded baskets on different platforms and a garden canopy bed, all with an open view of the mountains. The website publishes no rule on swimwear, neither for the cabins nor for the garden, so it is worth asking the property before setting off.
Couples, the table and the seasons
The house addresses couples explicitly and builds its offer around that: private spa sessions to book for two, couples' massages, beauty treatments, romantic baths and packages that hold the holiday and the occasion together. There are also yoga and training in the fitness room. On the dining side the Genusswelt is the dining room, with the Vinarium for wines, the bar with its lounge and the sunny terrace. The weekly programme offers guided walks and e-bike outings. In winter you ski in the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis area and walk with snowshoes; in summer the Super Sommer Card, the paths and the attractions of the area come into their own. The house has won the Holidaycheck 2026 award and Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice.

Frequently asked questions
From what age can you stay at the Alpen-Herz?
From the age of 16. The booking portal says only that children are not allowed, with no figures; the official website writes that the private atmosphere of the Alpen-Herz adults hotel in Ladis can be enjoyed by guests aged sixteen and over.
Is the indoor pool open at night too?
Yes. The website states that the indoor pool, kept at 31 degrees all year round and fitted with massage jets and counter-current swimming, is accessible twenty-four hours a day, and that from 22.00 it becomes night bathing under soft lighting. The outdoor part and the whirlpool at 35 degrees follow set hours instead: 15.00-19.00 in winter and 10.00-19.00 in summer.
Do you wear swimwear in the sauna?
The property publishes no rule. The website lists the cabins with their temperatures, the schedule of steam infusions and the rest rooms, but does not say whether you go in dressed or wrapped in a towel, and for the Kuschelgarten too it gives no rule on clothing. It is worth asking reception.
What is the Kuschelgarten?
It is the spa's resting garden, part of the thousand square metres of greenery around the hotel. It contains onion-shaped gazebos, padded baskets set on different platforms and a garden canopy bed; from every spot, the property writes, the view of the mountains stays open.
