Alla Riva

Alla Riva is in Lungadige Attiraglio, on the bank of the Adige in Borgo Trento, the orderly, green district north of the centre of Verona, a few steps from the Borgo Trento hospital. The old centre is reached on foot along the embankment: piazza San Zeno and Castelvecchio are about one and a half kilometres away, and from there piazza Bra is a step further. The house provides free bicycles, which on this route are the best way to travel.

There are six rooms, recently built, and they play on the pairing of Veronese materials with contemporary touches: walls of river pebbles, Verona marble and Prun stone, and sliding glass doors that bring the river into the room. On the upper floor are the rooms with a private balcony over the water; on the ground floor a comfort room accessible also to anyone with mobility difficulties. Fittings: air conditioning, wi-fi, a forty-inch TV with Netflix and YouTube, a mini-fridge, usb sockets, a kettle or a coffee machine in the higher categories.

The whirlpool is in the room

Anyone looking for a tub will find it in the Suite, which has a private whirlpool in the bathroom. The Junior Suite Queen takes another route and fits a sensory shower with coloured lights. There is no shared wellness area, however: no sauna, no steam bath, no pool. It is an urban bed and breakfast, not a wellness hotel, and it is as well to know beforehand.

The private courtyard offers five parking spaces in a video-monitored area, bookable at no charge. Entry is by magnetic card, convenient for anyone arriving late. The property receives adults only and does not allow pets. Breakfast, served in the room by the entrance, is the chapter guests come back to most often.
